Manic Monday?

Good morning everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Monday!!
As I started to type, I remembered a song by the Bangles (from the 80's or 90's), called Manic Monday. They sing about Monday being a panic day and how they want to return to Sunday because "that's my fun day", LOL.
While it's true that Sunday's are usually fun days, because you are spending them with family, faith and relaxing, there's no written rule that says Mondays have to be viewed as a downer. It's a frame of mind that someone, long ago took on and it spread like wildfire. I've caught myself in my previous jobs, after being off for the weekend, actually dreading Monday. I would walk in the door with a defeated attitude thinking that it was going to be a terrible day, I almost convinced myself of it BEFORE the day even started. Then I would see my friends, who had the same down in the dumps attitude and together we would all be huge baskets of misery. LOL. That's a true story.
But Monday's are no different than any other day of the week. Monday can be just as fun as Sunday or Saturday. You may physically be at a job where you don't want to be at the moment, but your mind and attitude can take on that of a thankful, grateful nature and make the day a LOT better. Trust me, I know. I used to find myself so depressed in my last job. I literally hated that place. I would dread going and couldn't wait to leave. But one day, I was having a talk with my boss, and she said that my attitude determined what kind of day I would have. That was really true (to an extent). So I tried my best for the remainder of my employment there to have a better attitude, and it helped some. I found that I wasn't cut out for that kind of work though. LOL.
Anyway, my point is this. Maybe today feels like a manic Monday after the great weekend you had. But it doesn't have to feel that way. Think of all those who would love to have what you have right now in life. Think of all those who are lying in hospital beds, dying with cancer who would love to trade places with you, while you complain about it being Monday. Think of the one who passed yesterday who would love to have one more Monday. But most importantly, think of your family, your home, your income, and be grateful. Be thankful that you have your needs met every day.
So let's not make it a manic Monday. I have a dear friend that I've known since I was a little girl, and he always said "life is what you make it". I never really got that until I grew up and realized that life IS what you make it.
So go out today and make this Monday a wonderful day. Get yourself in a positive place with your thoughts. Lend a helping hand to someone in need. Offer a smile to someone who doesn't have one. I bet you come away feeling a lot better. I choose to make my Monday a wonderful day, even though I'm not looking forward to my redeye flight to Los Angeles. LOL.
My point is that we can all find lots to complain about, BUT we call find lots to be grateful for. I choose to be grateful. If you are in a bad place in life, look up. Talk to yourself and tell yourself that it won't always be this way. I promise, things can change in an instant. I love you all so much.
Remember to work hard and Dream Big!!
Much love,
Christy
