Decisions and Consequences!

As I was sitting here at my desk working on my new book, I got to thinking about a few things.

I thought about decisions and consequences. Those are two things that EVERY single person deals with EVERY single day.

Everything you do, every decision you make, every action you take has a consequence.

Let's say you see someone in need, a stranger, for instance. He's dirty, smells bad, hasn't shaved in months, and you pass him up without giving to him. Then you see someone broken down on the road and you keep going without offering assistance. Then you hear that someone needs help with a bill, but you ignore it and leave them to struggle. Those are your decisions alone to make.

What do you think the consequences of those decisions are going to be in your life?

None? Maybe, but I disagree.

Now, let's say that you stopped and gave the homeless man two dollars, and you stopped along the road to let the driver who was broken down use your cell phone to call for help, and you helped your friend with his or her bill. Again, those are your decisions to make.

But what do you think the consequences are going to be now?

None? Maybe, but again I disagree.

We have all heard the words and phrases: Karma, Fate, Kismet, Good Vibes, You reap what you sow, and so on. And we all know what they mean.

The world has their version and God has His version. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:7 that we reap what we sow, meaning what ever we do comes back to us. Good for good and evil for evil.

The worlds version calls it karma, meaning whatever you put out, will come back.

There's a book called The Secret that everyone raves about. It's been around for years, but the theme of it is, whatever you put out is what will come back. It's like the Bible but without the scriptures, (which reminds of the verse that says "having a form or Godliness but denying the power thereof). Anyway, this book tells you to be positive and send out positive vibes and positive will return to you. Hey, I'm all for that. I'm the poster child for being positive!! But I do also think that somewhere you have to include God in what you are doing. You can't just think it's the universe doing it all.

But here's my point in all of this: EVERY decision you make, will have a consequence, be it good or bad, you will have to pay a price. So in helping with others, as in the example above, you will reap a return on your investment. Maybe not monitarily (as most would hope) but in other ways though. If you need something one day, it will come back to you. But on the other hand, if you are stingy and only thinking of yourself (my four and no more as the old pastor used to say), then don't be surprised when you are in need and there's no help to be found.

Make good decisions today and you'll reap good conseqences tomorrow. I promise. God or the universe (however you believe) will make sure of it. Good choices like bad ones have lasting effects.

Remember to work hard and Dream Big!!

Much love,

Christy
