What Will You Do With Them?

The above photo shows a pile of blocks. Let's say you were on your way from point A to point B and you came upon these. Let's say they are too high to walk over and too wide to go around. What would you do if you absolutely had to get to point B? If you knew there was something more at point B than what you had now?
Like most, you'd probably at first glance, be surprised to see such a huge pile of blocks. I mean, there you are going along your way, trying your best to get to where you need to be and then out of the blue, BOOM! a pile of blocks are in your way. You look at them. You feel frustrated. You sigh. You begin to look around and wonder what to do. Do you turn back? You realize you can't. You've come too far. You look to the each side. You search for an answer to the problem. Your mind tries to figure out how to get over or around this pile of blocks. You stare for hours without any answer to your problem. You become more frustrated. You sit down and feel defeated. You contemplate going back from where you came. You shrug your shoulders and sit there, thinking of what to do. You remember a couple of houses you passed on the way. Maybe they can help you get over the blocks. Maybe they can give you a new route to take. You turn and go back.
You make it back to almost where you started. You see a couple of people in the distance and you start to wave. "Hey," you shout. They take notice of you and begin to laugh. You run to them and explain in detail where you are going and what you encountered. Again, they laugh and tell you they too, tried to make it past the blocks, only to find them impassible.
"This is why we settled here where we are," says one old guy. "You'll never make it past the blocks," says another man.
You look around at the houses. You don't want to settle there. You have been told there is a beautiful place just down the road not far from where the blocks lay. You ask for their help, only to mocked and scorned once more. You leave and head back to the blocks.
You arrive and stand there looking at them. They are large, they are many and they are heavy. But you KNOW what's on the other side. A place you've dreamed of. A place where you want to go. A place unlike any other that you've ever been in life.
You look once more at the high pile of heavy blocks and roll up your sleeves.
You bend down and move the first one, laying it to the side. You move the second and the third, and so on and so on. You work well into the night before stopping to rest. You sleep and wake early the next morning to begin again. You begin one by one, again moving the blocks. You work hard moving them to a neat pile at your side until you look one day and you've moved EVERY single block that was in your way, preventing you from going any further.
You smile as you think it's finally time to continue your journey. You look in your napsack and see that you are out of food. You must return to the houses and get something to keep you until the end.
As you are walking, you see the same two men again. And again, they begin to laugh. You tell them that you have moved every block and now they too can pass with you. You are so happy. But they are not.
They mock you again and hand you bread and water. They wish you luck and laugh, telling you that you'll die out there before you get all of the blocks moved."We are happy where we are," says one man. They don't understand that you have moved them and you are on your way. You only needed to return for food and to tell them they too can go where you are going. But they don't believe like you do. They don't see how all those blocks can be moved by one person.
You turn to go and you hear a voice that calls you. You walk over to an older gentleman. He looks at you and all he says is "Dream Big". You look at him with concern. "I don't understand". He smiles and tells you again. You nod and go on your way.
You arrive at the place where the blocks were and you noticed that while you journeyed back for food, a terrible rainstorm came and almost flooded the place where you were to cross. There is mud, knee deep. It's thick and again the path is not passible. You start to cry, this time feeling defeated so much that you are ready to quit. But you can't turn around, you'll never fulfill your destiny if you do. You MUST find a way to continue. You have dreams of your goals. You have a vision for your life that you must see through. You HAVE to get there, no matter what.
You roll up your sleeves again. And you take the same blocks that once were stopping you, and begin placing them on the ground in front of you. This time they won't STOP you, they will HELP you. You work well into the evening and when you look up, you realize the the same blocks that caused you to stumble have now become stepping stones across the mud. You've made a path on which to walk and go to where you are destined. You pick up your things and continue on your way.
In a few short hours, you look up and see the most beautiful place you've ever known. You see the place where your dreams will come true.
You sit down and cry.
Someone runs to you. "How did you make it?"
You smile and begin to tell the story of how you took all of the blocks that were in front of you, meant to keep you from your destiny and how you laid them down and used them as stepping stones.
You hear a voice shout. "Congratulations!! Not everyone makes it, but you did, and now you shall enjoy the fruit of your labor!"
You smile and go on about your new life, knowing that you didn't let anything stop you.
This is an example of what we all can do in life IF we want it bad enough. We all can overcome any obstacle in our path. We all can make it through hard times and have the life we want if we just persevere in the face of adversity. Don't ever let anything keep you from your dreams and goals.
I hope I've said something to help you tonight.
Remember to work hard and Dream Big!!
Much love,
Christy
