A day!! That's all I can say about this one. I'm glad it's almost over.
I don't want to call it a bad day because I think any day we have that we are healthy and have our family is a good day. But I'll just say that was a trying day. Yeah, let's put it that way.
It seemed that each turn I took, there was another problem or issue to deal with. I know that when you are building a business, there will be things that come up and you have to deal with them. But being a woman is not exactly the easiest thing when you are trying to run that company. I don't like confrontations and today I had to deal with a guy who didn't perform the job he as hired to do, but still expected to be paid. That was NOT going to happen. His pay was contingent on the fact that he completed the project assigned to him. I had to confront him and deal with him. Not pretty, but necessary.
In business, it's not all going to be sunshine and rainbows. There will be days that you don't want to have to deal with issues, but you must because you are the boss. The outcome of that particular confrontation is still unknown, I am hoping to recover what was mine to begin with, but we'll see.
My hope is, as I continue moving forward with my company, I'll be viewed as a businessperson first and foremost. I am a strong, independent woman who can do whatever I set my mind to.
Oh well, I think it's Dr. Phil who says, we teach people how to treat us. I guess, that will come in time, when I show others, especially men, they can't run over me.
Anyway, parts of today were really great. I spent over two hours with my two of my favorite people, Ethel and Leah at Bank of Mingo today. I had business to conduct and they are so helpful and some of the best people to be around. We laughed so hard that our stomachs were aching. Needless to say, they both loved my books and that was the topic of discussion most of the time. They had so many questions, and of course I provided the answers, thus causing the laughter.
Sometimes even business can be fun. So this is my blog for the day. Not much in the encouraging department, but I'm pooped after this day. I'll be back tomorrow with uplifting words to inspire you all, but for now, I'm grabbing a Pepsi and Reeses cup and getting back to writing.
My takeaway for today is: even when the day is rough, look for a reason to laugh. Look for the good in it and it will get better.
Remember to work hard and Dream Big!!
Much love,
Christy
