Is Success Worth The Risk?

Is success worth the risk of failure?

You may be thinking, "what a dumb question".

I mean, it sounds dumb, right?

Who doesn't want to be successful?

What I gave you a fool-proof plan of success for doing anything you've ever dreamed?

What if I told you that no matter what, you wouldn't fail and whatever you attempted would work for you?

You would do it. Wouldn't you? You would go on the journey toward your dreams and you'd celebrate your success.

If only it was that easy. If only everything we set our minds to would work out with no problems and no failures, then we'd all be living our dreams easily.

But life isn't about always succeeding. It's about failing and learning from those failures and using those lessons to help make you a better person and your dreams sweeter once they come true. I think the only true failures are the ones who don't get back up and try again when something happened that set them back a bit.

There are two types of people in the world. One is the person who is so afraid of failure, that they won't even attempt to try and do anything remotely out of their comfort zone. They are afraid the risk will lead not to success but to a failure and draw attention to themselves. So they live a humdrum life, with mediocre plans, making safe choices so they are almost guaranteed success on the mediocre path they've chosen. Those people will most likely die of boredom. LOL

Then there are the people who go outside their comfort zone. They have ideas and dreams. They are the risk takers. They are the succesful ones in the end. They are the ones who went after what they wanted in life. You'll find these are our inventors, our founders of major companies.

One of my favorite examples is Ariana Huffington, founder and editor in chief of Huffington Post, an online news organization which is highly successful. (Side note: I was thrilled the day I made the Huffington Post, a highlight of my life. I felt like I'd finally made it, LOL).

Ms. Huffington's second book was rejected 36 times by publihsers before it finally got picked up (this was before she created the online news site). Did she give up? NO! She went on to get published and now look where she is. Sitting on top of a billion dollar company.

Another example is one of the most famous, Walt Disney. He was fired from a newspaper because he "lacked creativity". LOL. Now if that doesn't make you laugh, what does. He went on to become, well, you know, Walt Disney!!

There are thousands more that I could mention, but you get the gist of it. DON'T give up on your dreams. No matter how BIG they are, DREAM!! Dream Big!!

Go all out, reach for the stars, go after whatever you want. We all have but a short time on earth, so live your life to it's fullest!! Imagine if Walt Disney would have quit trying and had come into agreement with his employer. We'd have no movies, no place to go on vacations, no Tinkerbell, (my favorite). But he didn't. He knew he had a gift and a dream, so he pursued it. You can do the same. Who know what you have inside you. Maybe you are the next Disney or the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or who knows. You can look up those last two and read about their stories on your own. But they too, overcame great obstacles in life to go on and do great things.

What I'm saying is this: don't let fear of failure determine the size of your dreams. If there was no failure, you wouldn't know the sweet taste of success when you reached it.

Remember to work hard and Dream Big!!

Much love,

Christy
