Her Wings!!

I've been broken. Almost to the point of being unrepairable.

To those who look at me, I look like a lost cause. Like a plate that's shattered into a million tiny shards.

"She'll never be the same, she'll never be fixed", they say.

I've walked for years with the universe on my shoulders.

I've carried guilt and shame, worry and pain on me. But the whole time, I did it with a smile, trying not to show the anguish inside. I wanted others to see happiness and not the heaviness of the sorrow.

So I made it look easy to the world.

A few days ago, I received a message from a young woman who told me that I was a role model.

I laughed and said, "No, not a role model but an example of how NOT to live life".

She countered strongly with this: "You are a wonderful role model and an example of how to be strong, independent, and never giving up until you get what you want. Your love for others is incomparable!! You are a wonderful person overall and you've broken many barriers that would have been impossible for others. You are awesome!!"

She sent that to me at a time when it was very much needed, although she had NO idea. And I thank God for her message.

You see, I try my best to stay positive EVERY day. I try to get up with a grateful heart and count my blessings. But that doesn't happen every day.

There are problems that come to me, just like they come to you, and I don't always handle them with grace or make the right decisions. I then feel sad because I try to keep a positive, sunshine attitude, but it disappears even from me, at times.

So for her to send me that was very special.

I've been broken, but God has put me back together and HE has made it look beautiful. With God, nothing is too broken to be fixed. I'm living proof of that.

So if you see me and I have a smile on my face, it's only because God put it there. And what He did for me, He can do for you.

Give Him your brokenness and heaviness that the universe puts on you and He will give you a beautiful smile and a lovely pair of wings.
