What Would Peter Do?

What Would Peter Do? What Would JESUS Do?
I never thought I would utter these words: Christians aren't perfect, they are human. I used to hold those who served God up to some high standard or some impossible plateau that they could never reach as long as they were here on Earth. I put high expectations on them as if they were already walking around in their new sinless bodies. (That only comes in Heaven). After having surrendered my life to God, I now realize just how hard on those people I was and I'm sorry for it. I now see just how hard it is to live up to legalism and perfection. I now see what GRACE really means and how it was the sole purpose of Jesus coming to Earth to die and rise again. I now understand that while we are here, we are going to feel things and say things that don't line up perfectly with what we will be one day after we are changed and in Heaven. I also know that although we are in "the flesh" as they say, we still must strive to be "perfect" and try our best NOT to sin. We must live according to the principles of God and walk as closely to Him each day as we can. His Word tells us to NOT sin, but IF we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, and that is Jesus. Jesus was given to us as a sacrifice to reconcile us back to our Father. Without His shed blood, there would be no forgiveness of sins, no reconciliation with our Heavenly Father and no being with Him in Heaven for eternity. So, if you're not perfect, and none of us are, remember that you and I have a way to our Father through Jesus. We can ask for mercy and grace and we can expect it will be given, as His Word promises. He tells us that where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. That is reassuring to know. I started out this blog to say that, although I strive to make every day a "What Would Jesus Do" kind of day, it doesn't always turn out like that. Some days are more like a "What Would Peter Do" kind of day where you allow your anger to come to the forefront and get the best of you (as he did when he defended Christ). I don't want to do that but it seems that the enemy, Satan, knows how to use certain people to push your buttons and cause you to almost "pull out your sword" as Peter did. LOL. God forbid we do that. So today, I will strive with everything in me, for a "What Would Jesus Do" kind of day, but if I fall short, because I'm human, and I end up with a "What Would Peter Do", kind of day. I will repent and strive even harder tomorrow. It's a WALK with God each day, not a sprint. We walk with Him and learn as we go. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God".
I'm thankful that God has shown me how to not hold up others to a standard that can never be met on Earth. I'm thankful for grace and mercy. Without it, I wouldn't be writing this blog today.
Much love, Christy Daughter of God
